‘Tis the season for elegant black dresses and sky high heels. So says Meghan Markle, also known as the Duchess of Sussex, also known as America’s favorite royal, at the Paley Center in Los Angeles on December 4.
Meghan was there for the center's annual fall gala, this year honoring her friend Tyler Perry. For the event, she kept her look understated as usual, in a strapless black dress with an empire waist, a high center slit, and short train. The dress revealed her strappy, high-heeled sandals, and she accessorized with a simple diamond necklace, a Cartier love bracelet, and a messy updo. Interestingly, she skipped the earrings. (Perhaps no earrings are the new no necklace?)
As usual lately, Meghan Markle walked the carpet solo, without Prince Harry at her side. The couple have been making a lot of separate appearances lately to keep up with their individual projects and obligations. For instance, in November, Prince Harry went to Vancouver to take in a Canadian football final, while Meghan stayed in Los Angeles for the launch party of one of her investments.
“It’s clear that a twin-track approach is evolving,” an unnamed inside source told People. “The Duke and Duchess have now hit their stride as individuals—not just as a couple. The Duke appears focused on his patronage work, and the Duchess focused on her entrepreneurial track.”
