The guessing game continued in the pods between Taylor Krause, 30, and Garrett Josemans, 33, when Taylor withheld her ethnicity from Garrett. As a half-Chinese and half-white woman, Taylor said that she didn’t want her race to impact the experiment of falling in love blindly, or for her to fall into a fetishization trope that is common amongst Asian women. Garrett admitted that he has only dated white women before, saying, “It is a new feeling for me…. I’m not sure what that looks like for me either, going forward.”
Then there’s Marissa George, 32, and Ramses Prashad, 37, who started off the season as one of viewers’ favorite couples. From the beginning they seemingly had a strong connection and similar values. But shortly after leaving the pods, the couple soon realized that their strong physical attraction didn’t equate to moral compatibility, especially when it comes to sexual health.
In episode eight, the couple discussed family planning, including what the next few years after they get married might look like and their timeline for having kids. Halfway through the conversation, Marissa mentioned that she doesn’t want to go on the birth control pill. Prashad looks visibly uncomfortable and upset, as if he couldn’t imagine having sex with a condom in his future.
