Kate Middleton wore a pair of her favorite gold drop earrings as she made a surprise appearance to meet a young cancer patient at Windsor Castle. (See the photo here.) The Princess of Wales joined Prince William for the engagement as they spoke with a teenage photographer, Liz Hatton, 16, who is battling a rare and aggressive tumor. After Liz took photographs of an investiture at Windsor, she and her family met with Kate Middleton and Prince William, where they discussed the day and her cancer journey.
The princess, who is known for her love of sentimental jewelry, opted for a pair of glittering gold drop earrings for the occasion, which are among the oldest in her collection. The royal mother-of-three donned Cassandra Goad “Temple of Heaven” Girandole Pendant Earrings, a set which she has had in her jewelry collection since 2010. Kate was first seen wearing the gold jewels for Emilia D'Erlanger and David Jardine-Paterson's wedding, but has regularly worn the earrings throughout her time in the royal family. Among the most significant outings for the royal in the earrings was her choice to wear the jewels for Zara Tindall's pre-wedding event in 2011. The Princess last opted for the set in 2018, when she wore the jewels for the BBC Radio 1 Teen Hero Award.
