Vice president and 2018 Glamour Woman of the Year Kamala Harris will officially accept the Democratic Party’s nomination for president at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago this week. The festivities—which will no doubt be star-studded—kick off on Monday night and continue through Thursday. Heavy hitters like former presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton will speak, along with 2016 Democratic presidential candidate and former secretary of state Hillary Rodham Clinton. President Joe Biden will also take the stage on behalf of Harris and her running mate, Minnesota governor Tim Walz, on Monday night.
It’s going to be a markedly different atmosphere than what was originally anticipated a few months ago, when enthusiasm for Biden’s candidacy was dwindling. All the networks will be reporting live from the United Center (home of the Chicago Bulls) each evening, with CNN, MSNBC, NBC News Now, Max, ABC News Live, and more doing all-day coverage. For how to watch, where to watch, and what to expect, check out the daily lineups below. And for a more detailed description of what’s happening each day on the ground in Chicago, check out the convention website here.
Glamour will also be on the ground from August 20 to 22, so be sure to follow our social channels, as well as editor-in-chief Samantha Barry’s Instagram, for more.
While the DNC will be the biggest story of the week (can’t wait for more memes), there’s also plenty of straightforward entertainment to watch, starting with hometown dates on The Bachelorette and Love Island USA’s reunion special.
Later in the week—Thursday, to be exact—Netflix’s fascinating documentary Secret Lives of Orangutans premieres. And on Friday, Zoë Kravitz directs real-life partner Channing Tatum in Blink Twice (Glamour’s Caitlin Brody and Stephanie McNeal couldn’t stop talking about the film). That same day, the stunning and widely applauded Apple TV+ series Pachinko returns for a second season.
For more, check out the full listings below, and I’ll see you back here next Sunday for the start of the US Open, a double helping of The Bachelorette, and Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power’s second season.
