Have you noticed that a certain guy on the Chiefs is growing out his signature fade (a hairstyle he famously did not invent)? Apparently, Taylor Swift convinced Travis Kelce to finally start growing out his hair, after Kelce's teammate tried and failed to get the tight end to change up his look. Typical guy, am I right?
According to Patrick Mahomes, a quarterback on the Kansas City Chiefs, he'd been telling Kelce he should grow out his hair, but it wasn't until Kelce's girlfriend got involved that the football player actually committed to making a change.
“I've been trying to get him to grow his hair out and all of a sudden Taylor gets him to do it,” Mahomes joked on SiriusXM NFL Radio on August 13.
When he was in his PT (Pre-Taylor) era, Kelce wore his hair buzzed short in a fade haircut, a style popularized by Black men. When asked to comment on the claims that he himself had created the fade, Kelce laughed it off. “It’s absolutely ridiculous,” he said, per Sports Illustrated. “I don't want anything to do with that one, man. I didn't invent that. I just asked for it.”
But since returning to training camp in July, per People, Kelce has been rocking a noticeably longer cut on top. And he's not the only one with an updated 'do. Recent photos of his girlfriend indicate that Swift has chosen to dye her blonde locks a darker shade of light brown.
It seems we have Taylor Swift to thank for Travis Kelce's updated ‘do, but maybe he’s influenced her style as well? Watch this space.
