It's not an exaggeration to say that when Meghan Markle gets dressed in the morning, it can make the news. We cover it all the time. Whatever she picks tends to sell out fast, so Markle is purposeful in her wardrobe choices, and opened up about them in a new interview.
“Times where I know there is a global spotlight, and attention will be given to each detail of what I may or may not be wearing, then I support designers that I have really great friendships with, and smaller, up-and-coming brands that haven’t gotten the attention that they should be getting,” she told the New York Times in a rare interview. “That’s one of the most powerful things that I’m able to do, and that’s simply wearing, like, an earring.” She do be wearing earrings.
Markle recalled a specific time when she gave the Meghan Boost to a brand called Strathberry, which allowed the company to hire more employees. The experience “changed everything in terms of how I then looked at putting an outfit together,” she said.
She's also putting her money where her, uh, style is, making actual monetary investments in some smaller brands. "Investing in them has helped me line up for this chapter where I’m investing in myself,” the Duchess of Sussex said, characterizing her foray into venture capital as a “dolphin tank” as opposed to a “Shark Tank,” quipping, “These are friendly waters."
