Kate Middleton just made a surprise appearance in Scotland on Sunday, August 25.
In photos published by the British press, the Princess of Wales was seen riding in the passenger seat of a car driven by Prince William. The couple, as well as Prince George, attended services at Crathie Kirk, a church located on the Balmoral estate, where King Charles III and Camilla, along with other members of the royal family, spend their summer vacations.
Although we've recently learned that Middleton attended the Holkham Hall Festival in Norfolk with William and her children, this is the first time in many months that we see the Princess of Wales in an event of this kind. Since revealing her cancer diagnosis, she has made two public appearances at events much more organized than a family mass: the Trooping the Colour celebration and Wimbledon, which she attended with Princess Charlotte and her sister Pippa Middleton to present the trophy to the winner of the championship, Charles Alcaraz.
Kate Middleton's most recent reappearance was in video format. Although it was rumored that she would travel to Paris to support the British athletes who participated in the Olympic Games, she and Prince William thanked Team Great Britain in a video message posted just before the closing gala.
This Sunday, the princess was dressed in a beige plaid coat by Holland Cooper and her fedora hat adorned with feathers by Hicks & Brown. With her hair down, she accessorized with striking gold earrings. You can see the photos here.
Kate Middleton, Prince William, and their firstborn joined King Charles and Queen Camilla—who matched the King's kilt with a green blazer with red checks and a matching hat—as well as the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, Edward and Sophie, the Earl of Wessex, James, and Princess Anne's husband, Tim Laurence, to attend Sunday Mass as a family, as is their custom.
This trip to Scotland marks the furthers the Princess of Wales has traveled since her diagnosis and could potentially signal more regular appearances as one of the most prominent members of the British royal family.
