And so, we come to the end of an absolutely iconic season of press tour looks from Blake Lively, who wore Britney Spears’ Versace dress from 2002 to the premiere of It Ends With Us on August 6. Obviously, It Ends With Us means it ends with a shared Blake Lively and Britney Spears look.

The sparkly vintage dress features a single diagonal shoulder strap, with the colorful sequins giving it a certain mermaid-esque quality. Lively went light on the jewelry for this styling, but added a few cocktail rings and a pair of iridescent high-heeled sandals. Lively told People, “It is Britney’s actual dress. It should be in the Smithsonian or the Met. But it’s on me. I feel so lucky!”
Spears originally wore the semi-sheer gown to Donatella Versace’s runway show in Milan in 2002. Back in 2021, Versace herself posted a throwback photo from the event to Instagram, writing, “This flashback is from when she came to my show in 2002, looking glamorous in Versace✨ I’ll never forget when you came and stayed with me Britney, you were and will always be magical!!!!”
