It's official! Lady Gaga is engaged to Michael Polansky, her boyfriend of four years. And in a surprising turn of events, it wasn't even Gaga who revealed the news to the public, but the Prime Minister of France.
Two days after her performance at the 2024 Paris Olympics opening ceremony, Lady Gaga attended a swimming event with Polansky, where she was introduced to French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal. In a TikTok video of the moment shared by Attal, Gaga can be heard referring to Polansky as “my fiancé.”

“Thank you Lady Gaga for your stunning performance at the opening ceremony,” Attal captioned the brief video, perhaps not understanding the news he'd just revealed. Neither Gaga nor Polansky have shared any statements of their own about their engagement, but they haven't denied the news, either, which is something!
Gaga and Polansky, an entrepreneur and tech investor, have been linked since 2020, and went IG Official in February of that year. A few weeks later, Polansky's ex wrote a (very complimentary) New York Times op-ed about what it's like when your ex boyfriend is suddenly dating Lady Gaga. Which, in fairness, I would probably write about if it happened to me! Will we get a follow up about what it's like when your ex gets engaged to Gaga? One only hopes!

Gaga is in the midst of promoting Joker: Folie à Deux, a musical sequel to the dark drama that netted Joaquin Phoenix an Oscar. In the new movie, Gaga plays Harley Quinn, Arthur Fleck/Joker's fellow patient at a mental health facility and his love interest. Folie à deux literally means “the madness of two,” so, no, these two aren't going to help each other get any saner. But the music will be fun!
