Clamoring for more epic familial feuds? More twisted Targaryen family trees? More dragons? Well, you’re in luck. HBO has already officially confirmed that season three of House of the Dragon is on its way.
“George, Ryan, and the rest of our incredible executive producers, cast, and crew have reached new heights with the phenomenal second season of House of the Dragon,” said Francesca Orsi, executive vice president HBO programming, in a recent statement before the launch of season two. “We are in awe of the dragon-sized effort the entire team has put into the creation of a spectacular season two, with a scope and scale that is only rivaled by its heart. We could not be more thrilled to continue the story of House Targaryen and watch this team burn bright again for season three.”

With season two almost at its end, we find ourselves looking to the future. Who will win the epic civil war? More importantly, who will actually survive? Here’s a peek at what we know about season three so far.
What will House of the Dragon season three be about?
The third season will continue to follow the events of George R. R. Martin’s book Fire and Blood, which traces the infamously bloody Dance of the Dragons, a civil war between two factions of the Targaryen family.
According to Deadline, there are still some major battles from the original book that will be left for season three of the show. And according to showrunner Ryan Condal, there are at least two major battle sequences in season two.
In other words, season two will likely end in the middle of the Dance of the Dragons, and season three will pick up with, well, more battles.
While we don’t know exactly what will happen, actor Emma D’Arcy, who plays Rhaenyra, knows it is bound to be epic.
