1 Hospitalized After Shooting At 40th Street And 7th Avenue

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – One person has been hospitalized after a shooting in the Garment District.

It happened at around 12:15 p.m. at 40th Street and 7th Avenue.

It’s possible the victim was hit by a stray bullet.

The victim told police he heard a shot and felt pain, but didn’t see whoever opened fire.

The victim told officers shooting happened on the street, and he then went into the subway system to get help.

Investigators are canvassing the area for surveillance footage to try and figure out who pulled the trigger and why.

No other injuries were reported.

“I think we need more people out here. I think we need more cops out here. I don’t think it’s safe at all,” one person told CBS2’s Nick Caloway.

The victim is expected to recover.
