Joe Salisbury and Rajeev Ram roar back to take US Open men’s doubles title

  • Britain’s Salisbury and USA’s Ram take title 3-6, 6-2, 6-2
  • Pair beat Jamie Murray and Brazil’s Bruno Soares in final

Joe Salisbury came from behind to see off his British rival Jamie Murray and capture the US Open men’s doubles title on Friday beside American partner Rajeev Ram before a buzzing crowd of several thousand spectators at Arthur Ashe Stadium.

The fourth-seeded duo fought back for a 3-6, 6-2, 6-2 over Murray and Brazil’s Bruno Suares in the first major doubles final of the professional era to feature British men on either side of the net, splitting $660,000 (£476,000) in prize money for their second major title as a pair following last year’s Australian Open title.
