Joe Salisbury came from behind to see off his British rival Jamie Murray and capture the US Open men’s doubles title on Friday beside American partner Rajeev Ram before a buzzing crowd of several thousand spectators at Arthur Ashe Stadium.
The fourth-seeded duo fought back for a 3-6, 6-2, 6-2 over Murray and Brazil’s Bruno Suares in the first major doubles final of the professional era to feature British men on either side of the net, splitting $660,000 (£476,000) in prize money for their second major title as a pair following last year’s Australian Open title.
