NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — The NYPD needs help finding the vandals who toppled and shattered a crucifix at a Brooklyn church.
The damaged crucifix was found by the parish pastor early Friday morning at St. Athanasius Roman Catholic Church in Bensonhurst.
The church says an American flag hanging on the rectory building was also destroyed.
The Diocese of Brooklyn says the NYPD is now investigating the vandalism as a hate crime.
